The Last Post Happens To Be A Break!

Since I last stopped reading my book, at page 80 something, I have finished it :)

It was so good that as soon as I get home, I'm reading the next one. Anyways, a crazy amount of things have happened. Lets start here, when Reed and Upton were going to the party. When they got there, Reed made a special toast to Sawyer, her savior. Then, Upton told Reed to meet him back at the house after he left. He hired a boat captain to take her back. When it was time, she hopped on the boat. However, someone came from behind, and put a gag in her mouth and blinded her! She was then thrown into the bottom of the boat, and the boat went faster. The men started talking about where to dump the body, and she immediately knew something was terribly wrong. Then, she was pushed and shoved onto water, and then dry sand. The men shoved her down, and one stuck a gun to her head. Reed heard the gun click, and she started blabbering. She said that Upton would pay them double of whoever was trying to kill her, was paying them now. They left her there, and drove the boat off. No one came for a week. She was stranded on an island with no food or water for seven days. On the third day, the men came back. She knew that there were poisonous apples, and she was going to launch them at the men. When they come back, they said Upton didn't pay them, he went to the police. But, it was no use, because they WERE the police!!! Reed through an apple at one of the men, but it didn't go far because she was so weak. He caught it, and started eating it! He fell down and started twitching. Then, Reed hit the other man with a stick, and he went down. She tried to start up the boat, but she was blinded with dust. There was a horrible roaring noise, and then the man got up. He grabbed a gun, and started firing at Reed. She jumped in the water, and went under, just to see a bullet pass her by. Then, she found that Upton had just came, and he grabbed her from the water. He loaded her onto a helicopter, and they went back to the Ryan's house. She didn't want to go, but an ambulance and her friends would be there waiting, plus they were the only one's with a helipad. Once they got there, Upton went to talk to the police about Poppy, who was being investigated. Mrs Ryan took Reed upstairs, and started a bath for her. Reed sat down, and took a perfume to spray herself. She immediately knew it was the same smell that her boat attacker, the one who threw her off, wore. She found the hooded sweatshirt, and even a necklace. It was a necklace that Upton said his 'first time' older woman was wearing. Reed was appalled that the older woman had been Mrs Ryan! When she came back in, she saw Reed, and Reed started figuring things out. Sawyer luckily came in, just before Mrs Ryan got Reed again, and he saved her. Again. Then, Paige and Daniel Ryan started blaming Reed for lying, but Kiran said that she was pretty sad to have shared a man with her mom :-p. Upton came for Reed, and he apologized a lot. But, before they knew it, it was time to go back home, to Easton Academy. Once Reed and Noelle got back to Easton, they stood in front of Billings Hall. They. Were. In. Shock. Billings was being demolished. Noelle immediately called her father, and Josh, Reed's ex-boyfriend stood behind her. He was with his current girlfriend, and Ivy, the girlfriend, swung out her arms to hug her. Josh hardly said anything to Reed, and just then, Sawyer came in a limo. He was now going to Easton with his brother Graham. Now, Reed didn't have a home at Easton, came back from a disastrous vacation, had a overseas boyfriend, and now Sawyer was there. Things were going to get tricky for Reed....

Prediction: In the next book, it sort-of says what happens, but I think Reed will be able to get Billings back together. I think that she will (as it says on the back) be able to give girls positions in Billings, and have secret meetings. I know there will be some exciting near death experiences, but Reed I think will get Billings back at Easton, and there will be a happy ending, unless there are more books. Dun Dun Dunnnnnnn................. :)

Break Time Take Three!

I'm sorry I keep taking breaks, but this book is good!

I last left off on page 45, now I'm on page 83. Since I stopped writing, Upton asked Reed to be his long-distance girlfriend. Later, Reed went for breakfast with Sawyer, and they talked. He told Reed that being Upton's girlfriend wouldn't be a smart move at all. Reed didn't like that Sawyer was telling her that, because she really liked Upton. Also, Reed and Upton went out on a boat. At first, Reed was a little scared because she didn't want to almost die again. Then, Upton told her that they could just anchor and chill. When they got back, Reed talked with her friends. They talked about what they were going to wear for the New Year's party Kiran was throwing. Then, Daniel and Upton started fighting. Noelle and Kiran got really mad, so they decided that Daniel was out for the party. Paige, Daniel's sister got really mad, and said that if he couldn't go she wouldn't either. So then, Poppy and Sienna were mad, and Kiran kicked them all out too. It was a little hectic.

Visualization: I could easily see the fighting. I could imagine the girls laying next to the pool, tanning, with a few of the guys splashing them. Also, I could see Upton and Daniel yelling at each other, and everyone trying to break it up. I wish I was at a beach now.... :-p

Break Time, Take Two!

Once upon a time, I came across an amazing series, Private, by Kate Brian. I had read them all, and couldn't wait for the next to come out. The last one ended with an ENORMOUS cliffhanger, and I needed to know what happened next. So, today I was at Borders with my cousin, she was buying Eclipse, and I came across the next two books!!! So, I read quite a bit today, and let me fill you in...

In the last book, it stopped where Reed Brennan was thrown off a boat! This book, called Suspicion, started with her in the water. The boat was getting further and further, and Reed just didn't think she could hold on to her life much longer. She had been treading water for a long time, and was sure someone was trying to kill her, once again. She has had a past of murders, one being of her boyfriend, Thomas. He was killed by one of Reed's friends, and her friend's sister had then tried to kill her, and even killed one good friend, Cheyenne. Anyways, Reed was treading water, and was just going under when someone in a boat found her. When she awoke, she was in a hospital, with Sawyer, Noelle, and Upton beside her. She was vacationing with Noelle and her friends at the Ryan's estate in St. Barths. She told the police that she was pushed off the boat, but they didn't believe her at all. Noelle's father came in, and told them to right down every single thing Reed said, and they did. Mr Lange, Noelle's dad, did everything he could to help Reed. The people were found her were Sawyer, Noelle, and Noelle's dad. Reed thanked Sawyer a lot. When they went back to the beach, Noelle promised to keep an eye on and out for Reed. When they went to dinner, Reed accused these girls, Paige, Poppy, and Sienna (all exes of Upton, her new boyfriend, who's British ;]) of trying to kill her. They didn't like that, and the Ryan's came over, saying they knew who did it. They claimed that it was one of their employees, who simply wanted the necklace. So, he had ripped it off and pushed her in the water?!! Nice, huh? Reed tried to believe that, but she just couldn't.....

Visualization: It was easy to picture Reed in the water, being saved, and in the hospital. I could see the police, and the frustration in Reed's face, trying to get them to listen. I could also see how thankful she was that Sawyer had saved her. Another thing I visualized was when Reed was at dinner, yelling at the girls, and her shocked face when the adults said it wasn't them. These books are sooooo goooooooooooood! 2 thumbs up for sure!!

Pages 156-177 (and I'n nowhere near the middle!)

So, since I last left off.....

Clary and Jace had gone with Hodge to talk to the Silent Brothers. They wanted to see what was in Clary's mind that she couldn't remember, and if it was of any importance. The Silent Brothers are three shadowhunters who don't speak. They can go into your mid and speak to you. That's why they are the Silent Brothers. Once talking, one of the brothers went into Clary's mind. He told the waiting folks that he couldn't get past a block. It was the same thing that Madame Dorthea said, too! The Silent Brothers said that it must have been a spell cast upon her, but she didn't know who could have done it. Then, Clary and Jace got in a carriage with the Brothers, and were headed toward the Bone City. Jace talked about why he wanted revenge on the men who killed his father, and how. Not a lot really happened in this reading.

Visualization: I could easily see Clary's mind being read by the Silent Brothers. It said that she became very tense as one Brother put his hand on her head. The book also said the way the Brother looked. The way it described it made me think of Voldimort (sorry I don't know how to spell his name) from Harry Potter.

Pages 144-156

Yeah, I know, this is going to be a short post! It's just that I don't know how much time in the future I will have to finish these posts!!!

From where I last left off, Clary and Jace had entered Hodge's greenhouse. Once they were there, Jace told him about the happening with Luke and the strange men. He told Hodge about how the men, Pangborn and Blackwell, called Luke by the name of Lucian. Hodge told Clary and Jace that he knew the men and Lucian, because they were all in a group called The Circle. It was controlled by Valentine, and Clary's mother was in it too! Clary immediately said no, that her mother would never do such a thing, but Hodge insisted. He told Clary that her mom may not have had a say in it, because Valentine was her husband! This was such a shock to everyone, especially Clary. Then, Hodge talked about Valentine wanting to try and destroy all of the downworlders. Jace really wanted to stop him, but Hodge told him to hold back and do nothing.

Connection to the World: This reading kind-of made me think of wars. It did so because I thought of people saying we shouldn't do anything, and others saying we should. It made me think of invading other places, and finding out that maybe you should have listened to the people that said don't invade.....

So, let's get back on track here with my original book!
Since I last left off, quite a lot has happened. Clary and Jace had made their way into Madame Dorthea's apartment, which looked just like Clary's. They talked to her about what had happened, and she told them that her mother was a witch. Jace said that was impossible, because witches were crossbreeds, which meant that they couldn't have children, ever. Madame Dorthea made them tea and sandwiches, and once they ate, Clary noticed a door. She knew that there couldn't possibly have been a way out of it, and though Jace and Madame Dorthea tried to stop her, she yanked it open and fell out. She landed in the grass, and Jace landed on top of her. She looked around, and immediately knew she was at Luke's house. Jace told Clary that they would go to wherever she was thinking about, but Clary swore she wasn't thinking of any place imparticular (sorry, IDK how to spell that word) Then, Jace thought that maybe Luke was the last one to go through the door, and that they should look around. They jumped over a bush, and who do they find? Not Luke, but Simon! He explained that he had been looking for Clary, and that when Luke said she went to visit family, he knew Luke was lying, because Clary didn't have any other family. They decided to go look in Luke's apartment. They went through the bookstore, and then into his house. When they got in there, they looked around, and Clary saw the fractured picture that she had dropped in the apartment. Just then, Luke and two strange men walked in. The three kids hid behind a screen that they were able to look out of, without being seen. The men started talking about things that only Jace was familiar with, and when they were gone, Jace told Clary that those were the men who murdered his father. Clary, Jace, and Simon went then to the Institute. When Jace found Isabelle, he informed her on what happened. Simon decided to stay with Isabelle while Clary and Jace went to Hodge. I left off just as they were entering Hodge's enormous greenhouse.

Connecting To My Life: I can't really say that I relate all too much to this book since most of it happens around things like 'magic' but when I read about Jace, Simon, and Clary hiding from the men, I remember hiding from people. My friends and I would always sneak around my house, going in and out of windows. We really liked spying on the grown-ups. One time, we were going through a window in my dining room, right when all the parents walked in! We had two choices, and had to think quick! We could go through the window, or stay outside. We decided to go in. We thought we were safe, but they kept coming in, and we had to hide under the table! It was a pretty scary moment because we didn't want to reveal ourselves by laughing or being seen. I thought of this when I was reading my book.

Break Time!

So, I stopped reading City of Bones for a while, but only because I got the second book in the Percy Jackson series. It's called The Sea of Monsters, and I'm already on page 100! Let me fill you in on what has happened so far.......

It starts off with Percy having a nightmare about Grover. He thought it was nothing too bad, just that he was worrying about his satyr friend, ever since he went to go and discover Pan, the God of nature and such. When Percy wakes up, he saw a figure by his window though, and got dressed as quick as he could and ran out of his room. When he got to school, he met his friend, Tyson there. When he got to school, everything was pretty normal. Now, Tyson is this really big guy, who always cries a lot. He doesn't have any friends other than Percy, and lives on the street in a refrigerator box. Anyways, at school, the big bully tells Percy he is gonna die at gym class. Percy remembers that his gym teacher promised them they could play dodgeball. Tyson was acting weird, saying that the bully's visiting friends smelled weird. Percy didn't notice. When they started playing, the visitors all the sudden started getting really big. Soon, they were yelling things like, 'die, Perseus Jackson!' Percy soon realized that these were not people, but monsters! Soon, the other kids realized something was wrong, because the monsters were now throwing giant balls of fire! Tyson was able to hit them off with his hands, which was very weird, since he was only human. Percy though to himself, 'I couldn't even make it through the last day of school.' Just then, Annabeth ran into the school, and pulled out Percy and Tyson. She took out a drachma, and threw it into the road. All of the sudden, a gray cab popped up. The three got in the cab, and started speeding off to camp. When they got to Half Blood Hill, giant bulls were running all around. However, they shouldn't have been able to go through there, because Thalia's tree was a protective force, but now, it wasn't working. When Annabeth and Percy went through, Tyson stayed back. Then, Percy was about to get run over by a bull, but Tyson stopped him. Once Tyson had gotten rid of the bulls, they entered camp. Everything was different, and people were sad. There was a sick-like feeling in the air, but no one knew why. When the three got to Chiron, they learned he was leaving, and that he had been fired because Thalia's tree was poisoned! The fill-in for Chiron was a prisoner from the Underworld, too! Once everyone was inside, Annabeth told Percy to really look at Tyson. When he looked, he saw that Tyson was really a Cyclops, and that he was probably a baby, hence the crying all the time. When it came to dinner, everyone gave their food to a certain God, and the new guy, Tantalus, tries to think of something to do with Tyson. However, when everyone is making fun of him, everyone starts to gasp. Percy is in awe as a glowing trident hangs over Tyson's head. This was the sign that Poseidon, Percy's father, was claiming Tyson as his son. Everyone was now going to make fun of Percy for this. But, Tyson is just so happy that he is Percy's half-brother, that he doesn't even notice the insults. Later on, chariot races were held. It started turning ugly though, when evil birds started picking away at everyone! They started crashing the chariots, and rigorously harming everyone. Then, Percy and Annabeth grabbed some awful music, and played it so loud that the birds flew away. The rest, well, Tyson got them. That night, Percy had another dream about Grover. This time, though, Grover actually contacted him. Annabeth and Percy really wanted to get a quest to go find him, because this may save the camp. But, Tantalus didn't let them. Instead, he was giving Clarisse a quest to go find him! Percy was starting to doubt that Half Blood Hill was going to be saved, and that since him and Grover were now linked, that he was going to die soon.

Visualization: In this, everything was very visual. I could see every little thing happening, like the birds pecking the people, and Percy playing dodgeball. I could imagine the fire balls being thrown at Percy, and I could imagine them running from the burning school. I could also easily see Percy realizing the Tyson was a Cyclops. Another easy thing to visualize was Percy at the camp when all the bulls were around. I could see everyone trying to fight them off, and I could also see the chariot races as well, with everyone falling over, and the horses galloping around.

Pages 36-98

This book is certainly moving along! Since I last left off, quite a bit has happened. When Clary and Simon got to the poetry reading, Jace was there, waiting for Clary. They stepped outside to talk, and Clary's mom kept calling her. When Clary finally picked up the phone, her mother was relieved. However, she started fading out, like something was holding her. She told Clary that she shouldn't go back to her house because it was dangerous. Clary ignored her mother's warning and went anyways. She ran to her apartment alone, and saw that the door was open. No one was inside, but the furniture was ruffled all over the place. When Clary went to her mom's bedroom, she heard something come up behind her. The creature jumped in front of her, and she barely got away. Then, she ran through the apartment, towards the door, but the creature flung itself onto her, and Clary blacked out. The next thing she knew, she was outside behind a bush. Jace was with her, telling her not to move. She moved, and felt a sudden pain go up her spine. Then, she told Jace they should report the happening to the police outside. But Jace said they weren't human beings, and that they were dangerous, so they didn't. Jace pulled out something, and marked Clary with it, so they could get by the 'police.' Once they were by the police, Clary fainted once again. This time, when she woke up she was in a large place, which was called the Institute. When she looked around, Isabelle was there. She gave her some clothes to put on, and Clary went to find Jace. They went to talk to Hodge, their tutor. They talked for a while, but Clary wanted to go to her house to find what was still left there. Jace agreed to go with her, and they went back to Clary's apartment. When they got in, everything in the house was gone, even the fridge! Clary needed to check her bedroom, and just see if there was anything in there. She walked to the door, and it flung out at her! A giant monster-looking man jumped out at Jace, and he tried to fight him off. They got out of the apartment, and Jace was toppled by the man. He slashed him with a stele, and the creature didn't die. Jace got up, a little hurt, and told Clary that the creature was once a man, but was changed into something awful. Then, Madame Dorthea, Clary's neighbor, had Clary and Jace go in her apartment. She was going to tell them all she knew about the Shadowhunters, like Jace. That's where I stopped!!

Prediction: I think next, that Madame Dorthea will tell Clary and Jace that she knows where Clary's mother is. I also think that she will tell them that she knows why Clary's mother was taken, and what this has to do with her.

Pages 16-35

Since I last left off, Clary stood in the 'empty' room, while the bouncer and Simon came in. She apologized for nothing being in there, but she actually knew that there were people in there even if they weren't people at all. After Clary and Simon left Pandemonium, they couldn't get a taxi. Finally, they got one and hopped in. The next day, Clary pulled out a box that was her father's. It had a bunch of his belongings in it, and she liked to look at it sometimes. When Clary's mother came home though, she told Clary that they were going to go on a vacation. Her excuse was that she needed to get away for a while. Clary got really mad, and just then, Simon walked in. Clary ran off with Simon, and as they were going down the stairs, an old lady opened her door. Clary saw a man walk out, but Simon didn't see him. Then, while they were walking to a Mexican restaurant, Clary saw a little girl's toy flap it's wings. Clary started getting really worried about seeing more people become other things, so she looked away from everyone. Then, while they were eating, Clary's mother kept calling her, but Clary kept blowing her off. Then, they started walking to Simon's friend's poetry reading.

Visualization: I could visualize a lot of this reading, like when Clary was standing in the empty room. I could see her looking around hopelessly. Then, when Simon and her were walking to the restaurant, I could see them talking. It was very easy to visualize. I could also easily see Clary yelling at her mother. Plus, I could picture a little girl walking past with a fairy doll flapping it's wings.

Pages 1-15

If you plan to read this book, I suggest not reading my posts. If you don't plan on reading this book, read my posts! :)

Today, during SSR, I read the first 15 pages of my book. You learn that the two main characters so far are a girl Clary and her friend Simon. They go together to a club called Pandemonium. This is a really good name for this club, because when they are there, Clary sees a boy with blue hair. He sits alone, and a girl approaches him. She had on a long white dress. Clary sees the boy and girl go into a storage room. However, she sees two other boys following them. One of them pulls out a knife! Clary tells Simon, but he swore he saw no one follow the blue haired boy. Simon calls over the bouncer though, just in case. Clary goes silently into the storage room, and sees the blue haired boy tied to the wall. The girl in the white dress has a whip in her hand! She learns that the girl's name is Isabelle, and the other boys' (one is her brother) are Alec and Jace. They tell Clary the blue haired boy is a demon, and kill him. He shrunk and eventually disappeared! Clary thought she was going insane. The three other kids were confused on what to do with Clary though, because they knew she knew too much, just being that Clary was able to see them. Not many normal humans could see them. Just then, the bouncer and Simon walk in.... And that's where I stopped reading (:

Visualization: This was very visual. I could easily picture the demon boy and the other children in a room full of wire. I could see the demon boy vaporizing before everyone's eyes. I could also see the very beginning when Clary sees them walk into the room.

Why I Chose This Book...

My book is called City of Bones. It's a book in the series of The Mortal Instruments. I chose this book because I love immortal stories, like the Twilight Saga. I also chose this book because it sounds really interesting, and my friend started reading it and loved it. Plus, my dad got me these books, so he'll be happy. I can't wait to start reading it (:
